Scans
What a scanner gets wrong, and what can be fixed
Worth separating the two, because half the frustration here is spent trying to fix something that is not fixable at this stage.
Fixable
Orientation, order, extra pages, pages belonging to a different document that got picked up in the same pass. All of these are properties of the file rather than of the image, and all of them change in seconds.
Not fixable here
A crooked scan stays crooked. A page that was fed through at an angle has its content captured at that angle, and rotating by ninety degrees does nothing for the three degrees that are actually wrong.
Likewise a scan is an image. The text on it cannot be searched, copied or converted into a document, because as far as any tool is concerned there is no text on the page at all — only a picture that happens to look like one.
